Asphalt Contractor in Islip called in for Parking Lot Repair

We had the opportunity to complete an asphalt repair project for a parking lot for a business based near Islip, NY.

The client, who is a long-time client of ours, recognized several signs of deterioration of their parking lot. They called us, asking us to come out to take a look.

We scheduled an inspection and evaluation the following Monday. We considered both the problems with their parking lot and their budget and made the best decision based on both factors. We determined that the best course of action would be to saw cut, remove and replace the weakest section of the parking lot, which had multiple cracks and pot holes that connected the cracks. This area was clearly experiencing the most wear and tear, but we also were concerned that the-sub base needed some extra stabilization.

We came out the next Tuesday, which was a slower day of business for them. Sure enough, we needed to excavate a couple feet below the sub-grade and to add a stable layer of aggregate so the repair would last a long time. We wrapped the job up within two days, allowing for the newly repaired parking area to settle before allowing traffic back to the area.

The property management company was impressed with our solution because all they wanted to do was to slow the deterioration of the parking lot – but we are confident this repair will last a number of years for our client.

Excavation and parking lot paving in Smithtown NY

Our team of parking lot paving specialists recently had the opportunity to perform some asphalt repair for a busy shopping center in Smithtown, NY.

A new septic system was recently installed and the parking area needed to be repaired. The customer has been using our paving services years so he knew who to call. He asked us to get in as soon as possible to get his parking lot back to normal.

We made it out right away to assess what was going on and started on the project later that week. We tried to coordinate with the septic system contractor to install the recycled crush base blend while we were doing back filling to save money for our customer, but he didn’t do a great job so we had to do it over. For example, the cast iron manhole cover was at the wrong height and was left unsecured, which could lead to problems down the road.

So we took matters into our own hands and dug a trench and installed a pipe for the irrigation lines to be installed at a later date. We made the trench area two layers thick and made sure it encompassed the entire new system. Once we finished the parking lot repair job, we painted the parking stalls that were affected by the construction work.

The owner was very thankful we quickly got our work done. We completed it in one day right before a busy holiday weekend, while minimizing disruption to any businesses near the project area.

Additionally, the vice president who was in charge of construction reached out to us, thanking us for the fine work and for looking out for them.

Asphalt Paving project in Oyster Bay

We recently completed an asphalt milling and parking lot paving project in Woodbury, which is located in the town of Oyster Bay, Long Island NY.

The local business owner had been having drainage issues with his parking lot for the past couple of years. This year he was adamant that he would get this issue taken care of before the puddles and potholes got any further out of hand. After checking with a few other local business owners and doing some online research, they gave us a call to request an onsite inspection.

Upon inspection we concurred that the business owner definately needed the get the parkling lot re-paved. Our estimator explained how the most cost effective approach would be to mill down the top layer of asphalt and then re-pave (which provided a significant cost savings version a complete rip out and replace project).

The Dumore crew was able to get over to the commercial property that Saturday to mill the affected area of the parking lot. Then the paving crew came in on Monday to lay down the new asphalt. By the end of day Tuesday, we had completed the job and the parking lot was back open for business.

Asphalt Milling and Paving Project in Commack, NY

We recently scheduled a large parking lot project located in a busy supermarket in Commack, NY. The parking lot was 30,000 square feet and needed to be milled and paved in one night to keep from interrupting the busy daily operations. As customer satisfaction is our priority, we quoted the customer a reasonable estimate for this project. Once the customer agreed to the quote, we immediately went to work.

We arrived on-site at 9pm and immediately went to work. We began milling off 1.5” of asphalt and used our street sweeper to clean the surface. The surface was cleaned by 3:00am, and we began paving right away. We were able to pave the entire 30,000 square-foot parking lot by 8:00am. We milled and paved the parking lot in one night as we set out to do. A day later we remarked all the parking stalls.

Our customer was extremely happy that we were able to complete the parking lot project in one night. Our customer was able to resume daily operations as normal without the disruption of milling or paving during the day.

As we were the company who paved the original parking lot in Massapequa Park, we have been providing regular maintenance for this longtime customer for over 23 years. We had seal coated, patched, striped lines, and filled cracks to the point where repairs were becoming costly. As repair maintenance had reached around 25% of the total cost to repave, we discussed the option to repave the parking lot and provided our customer with a quote.

Parking Lot Repair for Industrial Park in Hauppauge

A local commercial property owner in Hauppauge, NY called us a few months back for an estimate on their parking lot repair project. We were able to turn the estimate around quickly once we received the diagram, mapping out all the areas in need of repair (in purple below), but the owner had to wait for the new tenant to approval before we could proceed with the project.

Once we were given the “green light” to proceed we made multiple adjustments to our schedule in order to meet the upcoming deadline. We were able to start the 32,500sf of asphalt parking lot repair work in a highly organized effort. As we started removing the existing asphalt and replacing, we noticed a number of manholes that needed re-bricking, so we were able to get those taken care of while we were onsite.

The owner and tenant were very pleased with our workmanship and even more impressed that we were able to complete the project in less then three days. DuMor Construction will be going back to the industrial park to complete the parking lot striping and seal coating this fall.

Sinking Manhole Cover: Asphalt Repair in Suffolk County

A Suffolk county resident, and client of many years, contacted us needing repair work done on a sinking manhole cover. Arriving at the location, we knew exactly what was necessary for successful asphalt repair.

We began by saw cutting the asphalt, excavating with hand shovels, and removing the loose brick. We followed that by installing a precast concrete collar, and eliminating any brickwork which could fail in the future. Next, we performed a back fill with recycled crushed concrete, compacting in 4” lifts to eliminate most settling.

We will allow this to sit through several Long Island rainstorms before following up with a hot asphalt patch of 2”. This is the final step for this project, and completes our work with the client. Fast response, great quality, and fair pricing make us a top asphalt contractor in Suffolk County.

Asphalt Repair in Brookhaven: Emergency Sinkhole Repair

A client of over 25 years, experienced an early morning sinkhole emergency, and was in need of urgent asphalt repair. With a pile of RCA base blend stockpiled in our yard, our crew was ready to go, mobilized, and at the job site within the hour.

To complete the job, our crew installed 7 yards of RCA base in 6” lifts, and compacted each layer until the hole was completely filled. 2 hours after the initial contact, our client received a photo of the completed asphalt repair project.

Development Company Needs Help Planning

A few months ago we received a call from a development company that was planning on building some townhouses, and they were needing an estimate on all of the Melville asphalt paving work they were considering. We went out to the location and inspected the site, then we gave them a thorough estimate for the parking lot installation, which they were thrilled with. The development company called us again to let us know that we were hired for their parking lot installation and we could start on it at any time.

The crew arrived on the first day for the parking lot installation in Huntington. The crew began to get the ground area prepped and ready for the installation of the parking lot. The crew removed any debris that was in the area, then they began grading and sloping, and this would ensure that the proper drainage would be done. The crew then started laying the sub base, which is crushed rock. The sub base is a very important step as it will provide the parking lot with a stable surface along with providing a barrier for frost, which will reduce any damages during the freezing and thawing that occurs in the winter. Once the sub base was laid the crew started compacting the sub base.

The crew then began applying the hot asphalt mixture. The crew made sure that the appropriate thickness was laid to ensure that it would be strong and durable. The crew then compacted the asphalt with our industrial roller, then they treated the edges of the parking lot. The final step was applying sealcoating, which the crew did, then they let it dry thoroughly by returning the following day so they could apply parking lot stripes. The crew showed up on the final day and began to add the parking lot stripes to the asphalt parking lot. We know the precise measurements for each stripe along with the handicap stalls too.

Our crew was able to get the Huntington parking lot several days ahead of schedule, which was pleasing for the client. The client was highly impressed with our crew member’s knowledge, craftsmanship, and hardworking standards. The client must have been impressed because he contacted the office to let us know that he would definitely be using our company and crew again in the future. Fixing Up Some Wear and Tear

We got a call from a smoothie shop that wanted to have their parking lot repaired. They had not had any parking lot maintenance in Melville at their location done on the parking lot since opening five years ago. Business had been good, which means there were a lot of cracks that would soon turn into potholes. A few of our asphalt experts were scheduled to meet with the owner and provide the owner with an estimate.

Our asphalt experts arrived at the smoothie shop and they started inspecting the parking lot thoroughly. They gave the owner an estimate for all of the parking lot repairs and the owner wanted us to start on the parking lot as soon as we could.

The parking lot repairs were ready to begin

Our team arrived a couple of days later to start the project. The sun was shining although it was a bit humid and hot, but it was good weather for the parking lot repairs. The crew started off by sectioning off an area of the parking lot, so customers that were coming to the smoothie shop would still have a place to park while our crew worked on the parking lot. The crew thoroughly cleaned the area, then they began to fill all of the cracks in the area with crack sealant. The crew did this to each area of the parking lot, then they were planning on returning on Sunday to apply sealcoating to the entire asphalt surface as the smoothie shop would be closed on this day.

We concluded these Meilville parking lot repairs in due time for the customer - DuMor Construction Inc.

The crew arrived first thing Sunday morning and they started applying the sealcoating to the entire parking lot. It took the crew several hours to get the sealcoating applied, then they started packing up their tools and supplies to head out for the day.

We were able to get the lot looking nearly brand new once our team was finished. Monday morning one of our crew members went to the smoothie shop to look over the parking lot to make sure that it looked great, which it did and to also talk to the owner.

Our crew member just wanted to let the owner know that the parking lot was finished and if she had any questions. The customer was thrilled with the finished product as it looked like she had a new parking lot installed. Our crew member let the customer know that she shouldn’t wait five years to have any parking lot maintenance done because waiting this long could cause severe damages to the base of the asphalt, which would be very costly to her.

The smoothie shop owner was very happy and she even gave our crew member his choice of smoothie from her shop to show her appreciation.
